Samantha Roscoe puts her heart into banking and her community
By Dawn Wolfe
Some people struggle to find the perfect career for them – but not Samantha Roscoe, the current Branch Manager of PNC Bank’s Plymouth Road branch, who started out as a part-time teller when she was still in college. “It wasn’t my chosen career, but I fell in love with banking, and I never left!” she said. “I love the impact you can make on a customer’s life through their finances – I’m able to help people achieve things that they might not have thought possible.”
The banking industry also seems to love Samantha, who was first promoted to branch manager two and a half years after starting as a teller, at the age of 23. “From that day forward I’ve had a tremendous passion for my work and for the opportunities and companies I’ve been able to work with,” she said.
While Samantha has enjoyed her previous jobs, she waxes very enthusiastic about her experiences as a PNC employee. Even though PNC is a large bank, Samantha said, “I think what PNC does better than any other bank I’ve worked for is that their focus is on their employees – between the working environment, our benefits, and the way the company respects us, this is a great place to work.”
Samantha added that PNC is also highly customer and community-focused. “We always ask ourselves, ‘Is this the right thing to do for our customers?’ when it comes to every decision the company makes. PNC is also very involved in the greater community, particularly in helping underserved children get a better start in life through PNC’S own Grow Up Great program, as well as the company’s policy of allowing employees to volunteer up to 40 hours per year with an approved organization through the Grow up Great program.
Grow Up Great donates supplies from books to clothing and provides educational opportunities “to give children who might not otherwise be able to be part of a pre-kindergarten program the chance to start kindergarten at the same level as children who have more exposure to additional educational programs. We know that, for every dollar that’s spent educating children from birth to the age of five, the community receives 16 dollars back because that child goes on to become a more successful, productive adult,” Samantha said.
